What is Gold Filled Jewelry?

Gold filled jewelry is a layer of 14K gold bonded to a base metal of brass using heat and pressure. This bond is permanent and will not flake or peel when bent, hammered or heated. It is a lifetime product with proper care.

Gold filled jewelry is quite a bit different from gold plated jewelry. The Federal Trade Commission does not regulate gold plated jewelry. Gold filled jewelry is regulated and is required to be at least 1/20 or 5% of the total weight of the product. Most gold plated jewelry cannot withstand daily wear, but gold filled jewelry does.

Gems of Gold sells gold filled toe rings and gold filled thumb rings as well as solid 14K gold toe rings and thumb rings. Gold filled jewelry is an excellent choice to have the look and durability of real gold without the expense.
